Chicago PD star Amy Morton lands new Broadway directing gig

Platt

Amy Morton has landed herself a new gig — though this one is taking her from Chicago PD to Broadway.

According to a report from Deadline, the actress and stage performer (who you probably know as Trudy Platt from some of what we’ve discussed here over time) has signed on to direct an all-female production of Glengarry Glen Ross over on Broadway. The timing of the production should not interfere with what is going on with the NBC show, so it should be something that she is able to balance out with her schedule. It’s a little too early still for other details to be out there.

We’re all for Chicago PD cast members finding a way to get some more gigs during the off-season, mostly because it only helps the show out further to get more attention — and, of course, it is certainly also great for Morton’s own career. We just hope that at some point over the course of the next year, there is going to be some good material for her as Trudy Platt. We’ve always appreciated her on the series, but as a supporting character her story tends to drift in and out a little bit depending on what is going on around her.

The latest season of Chicago PD is going to be kicking off on NBC come Wednesday, September 26. It is going to be paired for the first time with both Chicago Fire and Chicago Med as a part of an exciting all-One Chicago environment. If there are potential crossovers, we do think that they help Morton and other characters given that it mixes up the dynamics and throws them into different, exciting places.
