Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 9 video: Can John, June, & Althea step up?

Fear the Walking Dead

Going into Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 9 on AMC this weekend, John, June, and Althea are ultimately in a rather-tricky spot.

How so? Well, let’s explain — they have the weight of not only the story on their shoulders, but also the fans. At this point a year ago, none of these people were on the series. We had then Madison and the Otto boys, but ever since then we’ve seen so many of these characters get picked off. While Fear the Walking Dead isn’t a bad shot, at the same time it’s not the same show. There were so many big alterations to the formula in between the end of last season and the new showrunners coming on board this year.

The challenge now, though, is figuring out a way in which to keep many of the people who were hooked on the previous version of the show hooked, especially since Kim Dickens was beloved and her exit was so powerful. We’re not sure that there is all that much in this new 4×09 sneak peek that really aids in that, largely because much of it is geared around a simple question as to precisely what is located upstream.

This first episode is probably going to be the most pivotal one that is coming up, mostly from the standpoint of making sure that many people who are watching the show out there are on board. If the producers can win over many viewers to the post-Madison era, there is a reasonably good chance that they can convince them to stay. However, if the ratings get off to a fairly-sluggish start here, we have a feeling that it could prove to be a challenge keeping people locked-in for good.
