Elementary season 6 episode 16 promo: Is a sex doll a key witness?

Elementary

We can officially say that Elementary season 6 episode 16 is venturing into some territory that is rather different than any other that we’ve seen on the series to date.

How else do you really describe a case in which a sex doll is at the center of everything? We really don’t quite know, but that’s just what we’re getting in “Uncanny Valley of the Dolls” on Monday night. The preview video below gives you a small sense of what we’re talking about here and it certainly may take the case as one of the funnier episodes of the season.

One of the larger questions that we do find ourselves wondering at the moment is simply whether Jonny Lee Miller and the rest of the cast were able to really keep a straight face during some of these scenes. The whole idea of this case is completely absurd, since the team basically needs to find out if this doll has information about a murder case. Is she a reliable witness? Consider this one of many questions that we have. (Remember, this is still network television — we don’t envision anything getting too crazy here.)

Maybe, in some ways, we’re getting this episode at this time intentionally since we have dealt with a number of serious installments as of late, whether it be Moriarty threatening Morland’s life, Joan dealing with her mother’s Alzheimer’s, or Detective Bell considering his future. We’re sure that there will still be some serious moments in this episode (directed by Miller himself), but we have a feeling that, when the dust settles, this is probably going to be remembered most as the sex-doll episode. Given that you’re in the sixth season of the show that has to come up with a new case every single week, this is the sort of creativity that you need in the writers’ room. We have no idea if this is something that could actually be a case in real life, but we suppose that it is plausible in theory.
