The Blacklist season 6: Are Liz Keen, Donald Ressler working more together?

Even though The Blacklist season 6 may not be premiering until the new year, why delay the speculation … especially when it pertains to Liz Keen and Donald Ressler?

At the moment, it is starting to feel that these two characters are going to be spending a little more time together over the course of the episodes to come. The post below comes courtesy of Megan Boone on Instagram, and this is the second straight photo that she’s posted of herself alongside Diego Klattenhoff. At the moment, that does at least give us a little bit more hope that we could have an opportunity to see the two of them working together. This was a key part of the earlier seasons of the series, but it has dropped off at times — and understandably so, given the nature of some of the stuff that has happened around them.

Yet, we do think that there is more incentive for these characters to work together than possibly ever before. For starters, Liz and Ressler do share an element of darkness that they did not previously. We think that they understand each other more, both in terms of their experiences and also what they’ve went through battling Blacklisters. Ressler could end up being an ally for Liz this season depending on what she wants her relationship to be with him moving forward.

Really, what we’d like to see over season 6 is an even more proactive Liz Keen collaborating individually with a number of other agents. Take, for example, putting her out there in the field with Samar or Aram, now that he is capable of doing field work when called on. We’re back to where Reddington may be thought of more as a Big Bad than an ally; that’s what happens when it is revealed that you’ve been living a lie since the start of the series and are pretending to be someone else for the sake of getting ahead.
