Law & Order: SVU season 20 key art celebrates show’s milestone mark

NBC has just released their brand new Law & Order: SVU season 20 key art, and it is clearly paying homage to the show’s incredible run on the air.

As you can see above, “20 years strong” is the slogan that NBC is using to promote the upcoming batch of episodes premiering on Thursday, September 27 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. (You can view a version of the key art without the slogan at the bottom of this article.) The photo that is used for both images is the same, as you can see Ice-T, Philip Winchester, Mariska Hargitay, Kelli Giddish, and Peter Scanavino front and center. These five are going to remain the core of the series, as they were for the second half of this past season.

Moving into season 20, we imagine that there is going to be a greater comfort level and sense of community among the team. When Peter Stone first came on board the D.A.’s office, he did so with an adversarial relationship to the SVU due, in part, to the relationship that they had with Barba. Yet, the events at the end of this past season probably showed a more human side to Stone, and he also realized over time that trying to be a wrecking ball with the SVU wasn’t going to fly, either. All parties involved now have a stronger relationship with each other and we certainly think that this bodes well for the future of everyone involved.

We already know the first three episode titles for the upcoming season and even without the writers or producers giving away too many details, the signs still point towards this being a topical, important season. It will kick off with a two-hour premiere that gives us a better sense of where the SVU team is now after the hiatus before shifting back towards its weekly format.
