Wynonna Earp season 3 episode 4 video: The trees are alive

Wynonna Earp season 3 premiere

Wynonna Earp season 3 episode 4 is proving yet again to us one thing: This is a show that continuously manages to find ways to surprise.

The sneak peek below offers you a solid sense of what’s coming on Friday’s new episode, and it raises a couple of various important questions.

1. Is that tree alive? – Is Wynonna Earp suddenly taking a page from Lord of the Rings, and beyond just that, what it is about this particular Revenant that the tree wanted to go after? This tree meant serious business and acted on it as soon as possible! It waited for no man, yet oddly, the first thing that Wynonna and Doc say is not “why is there a tree in the middle of the road?” — we imagine that when you’ve seen some of the stuff that these two have seen, suddenly even the strangest stuff doesn’t feel anywhere near as strange anymore.

2. Why isn’t the peacemaker working? – Right when Wynonna is set to complete her ritual, this is when the gun starts to sputter out. If there was ever a time in which to claim that it has a defined personality of its own, this is clearly it — it doesn’t have any interest in doing anything beyond just whatever it wants to do. This obviously causes a problem, as it seems as though there’s a reason why this Revenant can’t quite die just yet.

From a creative standpoint, all of this is fairly awesome since it gives Wynonna a chance to take on a different sort of threat than any that she has taken on before. It’s one a little bit more internal, and one that could have her questioning how she goes about her business in addition to how to take out some of her enemies.
