Crime Dynamic Duos: Blue Bloods (Danny / Baez) vs. NCIS: New Orleans (Pride / Baez)

Welcome to CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos 2018! This is the third year in which we’re doing this tournament, which is a way to honor some of the best crime-solvers in all of TV. This tournament runs throughout the month of August, and over the course of it we describe what makes certain pairs the perfect crime-fighting duo while also allowing you to share some of your thoughts on the competition! Each article is accompanied with a description and a poll; the winning duo will advance to the next round leading up to the winner being announced on September 1!

What are the rules of the tournament? Basically, all eligible shows have to still be in the midst of their run on TV as of August 1, and at least one character involved needs to be involved in solving crimes in some capacity. They can be a cop, a private investigator, a federal agent, a lawyer or a high-ranking officer. What matters is that they put plenty of bad people away.

Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Voting for Round 1 is open until Friday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Round 2 will begin the following day; the image at the top of the article should explain everything.

In this article, we’re kicking off our final day of round one with Danny and Baez of Blue Bloods facing off against Pride and Wade of NCIS: New Orleans. Only one pair is going to move on, and there’s a pretty limited voting window here!

Danny and Baez, Blue Bloods (#3 seed) – Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez’s characters are at the heart of most mysteries on the CBS series, and we actually have a feeling that they are indicative of what most real-life partnerships are like. They disagree and argue sometimes, but when the dust settles they will be there for each other and even put themselves on the line. They each understand what it means to be a cop, but also that they are fighting for something that is so much more than themselves. This partnership is especially important to Danny in the wake of all that he has lost.

Pride and Wade, NCIS: New Orleans (#6 seed) – It is absolutely fair to perceive this partnership as one that is significantly more non-traditional, largely due to the fact that these two characters are not actually spending a substantial amount of time out in the field together. Instead, they each control a certain aspect of an investigation and work separately to get the job done. Yet, it’s clear through watching the series that few people know or understand Dwayne better than Loretta. She’s a stabilizing force for him emotionally and helps to make him a better agent and better person. The same goes the other way around.
