Ruby Rose gets emotional talking Batwoman casting on The Tonight Show

Tonight Show -

Earlier this week, the news was finally revealed that it is Ruby Rose who is going to be playing Batwoman in the upcoming Batwoman crossover event / potential series on The CW. It’s a very ambitious role for her to take on, and it’s one that could certainly be life-changing for her. If all goes according to plan, after all, she will be joining Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow as a part of the huge superhero lineup in the Arrowverse. (Black Lightning is also out there, but there’s been a resistance so far to throwing it into the same world per se as the other series.)

If you missed it – Watch our video reaction to Rose’s casting below, and be sure to subscribe for some additional updates.

Rose is actually doing a promotional tour at the moment for her new movie The Meg, and that included making an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week to discuss the role and what it means to her. The reason why she was so eager to take on the part was because growing up, there weren’t many people on television that she could identify with. Now, she has a chance to play a lesbian superhero with the ability to help a number of people … both in Gotham and for people watching all over the world.

One of the things that we’re the most curious about here is how Batwoman is going to bring a city to life that has been so heavily portrayed in both other shows and forms of media, especially since this is a city that is also well-known and connected to another character already in Batman. We have a feeling that some of the questions about that particular character aren’t going away anytime soon, though there aren’t any plans right now for the series to include him. Granted, we also know that many people said the same thing about Superman turning up on Supergirl, and he has already appeared there on a few occasions.
