Last Man Standing season 7: Molly McCook, Jet Jurgensmeyer react to castings
Also, we appreciate that the creative team seemed to really emphasize talent over just finding relative lookalikes. The show will probably write something akin to Mike Baxter looking at Mandy at one point before saying “you look different” — from there, they will likely move on as though nothing ever happened. That’s something that many sitcoms like to do in order to acknowledge that something is different, while also not dwelling on it either.

In the hours that followed the casting announcements, both McCook and Jurgensmeyer (who already have comedy experience thanks to The Ranch and black-ish, respectively) reacted to the news in posts on social media. The two probably went through many auditions to get to that point, knowing that these are big roles and the sort that they could be playing for at least the next several months of their lives (or longer, depending on whatever the ratings end up being).
The premiere of Last Man Standing season 7 is currently slated to air on Friday, September 28 — filming has yet to take place and with that in mind, it’s likely that these new iterations of Mandy and Boyd will be there from the get-go. Unfortunately, there is one familiar character who will not be a part of the series moving forward; head over here to read about that.
