America’s Got Talent: Is Courtney Hadwin still consensus favorite?

Tonight marks the final Judge Cuts edition of America’s Got Talent and at its conclusion, we’re going to get a chance to learn, once and for all, who is moving forward to the live shows. The acts do have a big challenge ahead of them — competing with every other act in a live-TV format, and with that also facing off against some Golden Buzzer acts who have not been on TV in a good while now. That includes Courtney Hadwin, Michael Ketterer, Zurcaroh, Makayla Phillips, and Amanda Mena.

Coming out of the first audition shows, we were quick to say that Courtney was the runaway favorite to win the series. So has that really changed at this point? We don’t really think so. She still has the one audition this season that made the audience legitimately berserk the moment that it ended, and we think that her act has the most appeal among traditional fans of this show.

Basically, remember this: Singers still are the most-popular type of act on this show, so when you can get a singer who comes out and does something that nobody else has, they’re going to have a leg up. Courtney has that right now. Her audition has more than 44 million views, and that is just on YouTube alone. Who knows just how well she could do in a live-show environment?

Granted, you still can’t say, even with all of this in mind, that Hadwin is going to be the favorite to win this season of America’s Got Talent altogether. After all, remember that one bad song choice can really doom any singer. The thing that she has going for her right now is that her first audition was so fantastic that she may have a little more leeway than most. Nonetheless, she still needs to make sure that she is on her game because if she slips up more than once, she could be in danger. She needs to find songs that both suit her and voice and then also surprise.
