9-1-1 season 2 trailer: An Athena – Bobby kiss, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and more

9-1-1 season 2 is officially coming to Fox on Sunday, September 23 with a two-night premiere, and the trailer below offers a good sense as to what’s coming — and how intense things are going to be moving forward.

Following a very-successful first season (this really is one of the best shows on television), it already feels as though the Fox series is looking to be bigger and bolder than ever before. There’s a massive earthquake coming and that puts everyone across the city on edge — and it also makes things very challenging in the 911 call center, which is where new series regular Jennifer Love Hewitt is going to be stationed. She’s replacing Connie Britton, who played the role of Abby there in the first season.

The trailer (which you can check out below) showcases some pretty impressive effects, but for those of you who are also here for a little bit of romance, know that you’re also going to be getting that as Athena and Bobby heat up. The relationship between the two was really just starting to spark at the end of last season (we saw them meeting up for a dinner date), and it certainly seems that they are still going strong. We imagine that this season is going to get a chance to explore that more and there are likely several challenges that they’re going to run into. How can there not be when you think about what they’re dealing with as a part of their job? It’s one thing that the two of them are in near-constant danger, but they also have to figure out how to turn that part of their brain off when they’re not at work. Add on top of that their personal struggles as Athena swims through the murky waters of her divorce and Bobby is still trying to stay sober.
