Gal Gadot near deal to play Hedy Lamarr in Showtime limited series

Showtime

We feel like there are many young people out there who may only be starting to learn about Hedy Lamarr now thanks to a recent episode of Timeless. Now, it’s looking like there could be another great opportunity coming up thanks to Showtime.

Per a new report from DeadlineWonder Woman star Gal Gadot is nearing a deal to appear in a limited series at the network all about the famed actress, who was also a master inventor and an unrecognized genius during her time. She had an incredible journey and this series would do its best to try and chronicle some of that.

Just in case you need another reason to be excited about this, the series would be executive produced by Sarah Treem of The Affair and Warren Littlefield of The Handmaid’s Tale — two outstanding talents. The Handmaid’s Tale of course is a regular awards-show darling and we personally feel as though episode 408 of The Affair is one of the best episodes of any show that we’ve seen in 2018. (Read more about it over here.) This has all of the makings of a potentially great series, and we rather appreciate the fact that we are getting more biopics these days in a limited-series format, mostly because there is often too much story for a two-hour motion picture.

Granted, we do feel as though we’ll be waiting a while for this limited series if it happens, given that we’re just at the casting process now and Gadot’s deal does not appear to be done just yet. From our vantage point, we’ll be lucky to have it in 2019, but that would make some sense given that the final season of The Affair is likely set to air at some point next year. From then, we can see something else great from Treem in 2020 and hopefully, that will lead to something more in 2021.
