American Horror Story: Apocalypse teaser highlights all sorts of creepiness

American Horror Story: Apocalypse

FX has just unveiled the first American Horror Story: Apocalypse teaser and all signs point to one thing: A creepy season coming up.

Granted, with that being said it’s not looking as though FX is altogether eager to really share anything of substance when it comes to the season or what is coming up. That’s somewhat a shame just because this season is set to be the big crossover between Murder House and Coven that so many have been eager to see for a rather long time now. You’re getting a chance to basically see great characters from two great seasons clash, and the results here are probably going to be more than a little bit electric as a result.

Visually, this teaser is super-cool to look at, but if there is one key flaw with it, it’s probably just the fact that it really does so much more than it really needs to. This is the sort of teaser that throws just about everything at the wall, hoping that some of it will stick. The problem with this is that it’s fairly hard to draw any specific motifs or themes out of it, mostly because it is throwing so many different ideas and concepts at the wall at the same time. This has been one of our regular criticisms of the series itself, as it has felt at times that the show has relied a great deal of shocking twists and craziness at the expense of the story.

In the end, we’ll see precisely what lies ahead when American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres on FX next month. It’s pretty darn clear at this point that there are a lot of interesting things that the show can pull off — let’s just hope for something cohesive at the same time.
