The Bachelorette finale: Are Becca Kufrin, Garrett Yrigoyen engaged?
There has been a number of different stories out there about this final choice for a while, but in the end, it was Garrett who did end up getting the final rose. It felt like it was pretty clear that this was going to happen the moment that executive producer Mike Fleiss asked Bachelor Nation to be respectful, mostly because there is more or less zero reason for anyone to act out and/or be upset over Blake being the person Becca chose in the end.
Garrett’s past few months largely speak for themselves, largely due to his social-media history and the controversy that came out about him liking various hateful posts on Instagram. He eventually deleted said account and started fresh, but the damage has been done and this is largely the thing that he is going to be known for from here on out now. Becca, meanwhile, now has to take on the task of defending him — something that she didn’t sign up to do when she first decided that being a part of this show was something that she was especially interested in doing.
This controversy, plus the even more severe one with Lincoln (who has a criminal record), has really put a damper on this entire season given that it has become so hard to really judge the season through anything other than some of the controversies that we’ve seen play out away from the show. It’s a very different environment than the one Becca found love in over the course of the year.
