Murphy Brown revival will feature huge guest star in early going
While at the TCA panel today for the long-awaited revival series, it was officially unveiled that at least one particularly well-known person was going to be appearing near the start of the season as themselves. There wasn’t too much more information given beyond that, but it is still a rather interesting to nugget to chew on.
One of the other most-interesting ones at the moment is simply the fact that the world has changed significantly since Murphy Brown was last on the air and because of that, there is absolutely a great deal to explore in the series now. The internet was still in its infancy way back when, so now the show can look at that, the eruption of cable news, and also issues that are directly happening to people today like the Me Too movement. All of these stories are going to be placed within the story of the new season somewhere.
As for how well Murphy Brown is going to do, we’re very much curious about that and even a tad hypocritical. It’s easy to chastise the TV industry for not having too many new and creative ideas, but when a series this good comes back from the grave, it’s hard to do anything other than celebrate. How can you not be overjoyed about the idea of getting to see more of this? Murphy Brown is one of the most ambitious ideas of the fall season even as a revival, mostly because it’s of a different era and because there’s not too much out there quite like it. We are very curious to see how it fares.
