Following tonight’s finale, when could the Succession season 2 premiere date be on HBO? We certainly understanding wanting more immediately! Alas, that’s not going to happen.
At the moment, the good news that we’ve got is this: There is, in fact, going to be another batch of episodes coming to the network. This was first confirmed earlier this summer, and it comes off the heels of the first season drawing plenty of praise from critics and also some pretty-positive ratings at the same time. It feels like Succession is the sort of show that can really develop a strong following over time and get stronger and stronger as it goes along — that’s something that you can read a little bit more about over at the link here.
Of course, as far as when we expect to see the second season on the air, you’re going to be waiting for a little while in order to see that. The earliest that we anticipate season 2 to be on the air is next summer, but given how stacked a schedule HBO has at the moment, it could also be next fall or even later. Remember for a moment the fact that HBO has the finale season of Game of Thrones coming up next year, and in addition to that another season of True Detective and also the return of Big Little Lies. This is without even thinking about some of their other new programming that they have. (We do personally think that Succession will be back on the air before Westworld, but that’s just because that show tends to take a long period of time in order to make.)
We feel like HBO may make a little more news about season 2 of the show clear next year (maybe at the TCA Winter Press Tour), but that’s if we’re lucky. Our advice as we start to enter this hiatus is just to do everything you can to get the word out there about how great Succession is, mostly because this could help the show tremendously to expand its audience in the long run.
