Should NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 have season-long Big Bad?

NCIS: Los Angeles

As we inch closer to NCIS: Los Angeles season 10, there are of course many different things to wonder about — including what we’re talking about today on the subject of Big Bads.

Let’s start off this article by circling back to the title: Should there be a major adversary at the center of next season, and if so, what would that really look like? There are a lot of things about having a Big Bad that should be exciting, but the biggest thing is that it adds a sort of high stakes to everything that is going on. That way, you know that there is still trouble in some shape or form coming at just about every corner.

Last season, NCIS: Los Angeles did something sort of in this vein with Hetty’s capture, where for most of the first half of the season there were questions as to whether or not she would be back. While we liked the tension that was there for Hetty, it wasn’t necessarily that appealing to watch her be stranded from the remainder of the team for all of the season. If we were to have it our way instead, our personal preference would be to have a chance in order to see the entire team fighting a central enemy together.

Obviously, a terrorist is an easy option for the series to take on, mostly because these are often the people who present the biggest threat to the country. Yet, at the same time you can also make the argument that this is one of the most predictable options out there, as well. It’s something that we’ve certainly see many different times before.

It’s with that in mind that we would prefer to see NCIS: Los Angeles take on the idea of enemies from within, whether it be someone starting a private militia, a person who is secretly operating to destroy NCIS from the inside, or a homegrown terrorist cell who just wants to create attacks on the country. Do something that is a little more grounded in the area and remember this: You don’t need to have the agents traveling all over the world in order to feel like there is danger. Keep them centrally located in your backyard and you will be more than fine.
