Save Shadowhunters: Showrunner Todd Slavkin still hopes for more

Shadowhunters season 2 finale review

There’s a bit of sadness in today’s Save Shadowhunters update, mostly because of the fact that we’re near the end of the season 3 finale shoot. Depending on what happens with the fan campaign, it’s possible that these are the final episodes of the series. Hopefully that’s not the case, but we have to be prepared for all outcomes while we keep fighting every step of the way.

What’s most important here is that showrunner Todd Slavkin is still not giving up on the idea of a season 4, and he’s helped to write the season 3 finale with that in mind. Today, Slavkin is kicking off a two-day Q&A session with fans as a tribute to all of their work, and explained that there is “absolutely” room to tell more stories within this world.

Have you subscribed to our YouTube? – We suggest doing so here! Be sure to check out our Shadowhunters playlist, we will have a new video this weekend about production, Todd’s Q&A, and more.

You can check out a few other highlights from the Q&A below, and there are a few different things worth noting.

It’s “unlikely” the show will find new home – Hearing Slavkin say this shouldn’t come as a surprise — it’s always been unlikely just because all campaigns to save canceled shows are longshots. We get to hear about success stories like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Lucifer — and we’ve been lucky to hear many of these this year, with Timeless as another example — but the reality is that the vast majority of canceled shows fail to find a new home. Yet, there is still a glimmer of hope and we’re going to do our part to help until that glimmer is gone or the show is saved.

Helen Blackthorn is coming – For those wanting to see the TV version of that character, have no fear! Todd notes that Sydney Meyer is playing the role.

‘Ship Watch – Whether you love Sizzy, Malec, or Clace, rest assured that there are going to be some good moments for all of them moving forward in the upcoming twelve episodes. We do think that the writers are working to present as many satisfying moments as possible for these characters before the season ends, just to make sure that viewers are left with their best.
