Master of None season 3: Netflix still interested, but no timetable
Based on all indications, it seems as though there could be a Master of None season 3 at Netflix. With that being said, it does not appear as though anyone is in a hurry to make that happen.
While at the TCA Summer Press Tour today promoting the series, the streaming service’s vice president of original programming Cindy Holland made it clear (per Entertainment Weekly) that the company “would be happy to make another season of Master of None when Aziz [Ansari] is ready.”
Yet, there does not appear to be any indication as to when that will be. After an infamous babe.net story that sparked mass debate during the Me Too movement Ansari has gone almost completely off the map, performing a handful of surprise stand-up sessions at the Comedy Cellar but not a whole lot else. This isn’t much of a surprise — even before the babe.net story, Ansari had a history of disappearing in between his acting and stand-up gigs. He spent a substantial amount of time out of the public eye in Italy leading into the filming of Master of None season 2, and some of his experiences ended up being inspiration for that chapter of the story.
This really just seems like one of those instances when he will come back whenever he wants to come back, but no matter when that is, he has to be prepared for a number of questions about a subject that he probably does not want to talk about beyond a statement that he already gave on the subject. We just don’t foresee any of these sort of conversations going away in the near future.
At this point, it would be a surprise if Master of None season 3 ends up airing in 2019 — if it even comes on the air at all. The ball seems to be pretty firmly entrenched in Ansari’s court at the moment.
