Supergirl season 4 spoilers: The Last Ship actress playing Mercy Graves

Supergirl season 3 episode 13

We’ve got another edition of Supergirl season 4 casting news, and this has us excited: Rhona Mitra is coming on board!

According to a report from Deadline, the former The Last Ship series regular is going to be playing the role of Mercy Graves in a recurring capacity moving forward. In the comics, Graves was Lex Luthor’s longtime bodyguard. Here, she is a former CADMUS agent who has long believed that humans are far superior than aliens. With both Lex and Lillian Luthor put away, we’re going to see Mercy leading somewhat of a movement of her own. She’s strong, savvy, and will be an important person in one of season 4’s key storylines: The movement of humans to oppress aliens. At the center of much of this is going to be Agent Liberty, a character who is set up to be one of the show’s major villains!

To go along with this big of casting news, also know this: Robert Baker (Grey’s Anatomy) is set to appear as Otis Graves, Mercy’s brother and also someone who is capable of inflicting quite a bit of damage in her stead. He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed but, at the same time, he is more than capable of taking out aliens.

While it seems on paper like Supergirl would be able to take on either one of these characters without too much of a problem, one of the things that we have learned over time with this show is that things are often so much more complicated than they originally seem.

Supergirl season 4 is going to be premiering on The CW this October, where it will be in a new timeslot on Sunday nights. (Head over here to see the new preview, in the event that you have not to date.) We think that this season is going to be action-packed, but also personal and topical as the writers look to establish more the character of Kara Danvers and look at some of the things that are important in the world today.)
