Legends of Tomorrow season 4 will hint at past Constantine romance
How much so? According to TVLine (via executive producer Phil Klemmer), the plan for Matt Ryan’s character is for there to have been a romance of sorts with this character that took place following the end of the Constantine NBC show and prior to him turning up in the Arrowverse for the first time. This relationship (which was with a man) may have been tragic in some way. As a result of that, it’s something that sticks with him.
Part of the appeal of giving a story like this to John is mostly that he is this sort of closed-off, guarded guy who doesn’t really like to share too much about who he is. This is an opportunity to learn more about that and give Ryan a meaty storyline at the same time. The big challenge that often comes with that in Legends of Tomorrow is that this show has such a large ensemble that sometimes, it’s really hard to find a number of personal stories to highlight. Yet, we’ve got a feeling that they’ll give him at least a couple of episodes in which to really explore this.
We do know already that much of Legends of Tomorrow season 4 is geared around Constantine in some way, given that he is the one who comes to the Legends at the end of season 3 with the bold announcement that many other demons and creatures have come out from the portal opened by Mallus. Trying to eradicate the world of them is going to be one of the goals of the upcoming season, though there is no precise word on who the Big Bad will be. Crazy conspiracy theory: Wouldn’t it be interesting if it turned out to be the new character played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers? We’d say that nobody would see it coming … but we just did.
