Scream season 3 premiere may air in October; more evidence

Scream season 3 premiere

Are we getting closer to finally learning some Scream season 3 premiere news? We’re starting to get the sense that it is at least possible.

In a recent Instagram story post, Keke Palmer responded to a fan wondering about the show’s future suggesting that it could be back in October. She certainly didn’t confirm anything, and seemed to be offering up her own opinion on when it should return just as much as when it will return.

Yet, Palmer’s proclamation lines up with our own personal proclamation that Scream really should be back on the air in October, largely because it matches up very well with Halloween and you could also air the six episodes over just a few weeks if you really wanted to.

So why the long delay? We do think that there have been some major behind-the-scenes issues that have played out regarding Netflix and a Weinstein Company output deal that has been terminated. We also do wonder whether the delay could be due in part to a number of real-life tragedies that have taken place in high-school environments. We’ve already seen the Paramount Network scrap Heathers altogether after a number of high-school tragedies, and Netflix came under fire for airing 13 Reasons Why season 2 in the midst of a number of terrible things happening around the country.

All indications suggest that MTV may eventually plan to still air Scream in due time. We do think fans deserve an opportunity to be able to watch the third season and differentiate the events of the show from real life; we just have to wait and see what they want to do.
