The Originals season 5: Daniel Gillies tees up series finale, talks show’s run
Of course, Daniel didn’t hand down too many teases about the final episode, other than just saying something that should be no surprise to anyone out there — we are gearing up for what is likely going to be a polarizing end of the road:
“It’s the end of an extremely long era. I don’t think there’s going to be pleasing — there’s been a lot of outrage this season so far with all of the deaths … I have no idea how to forecast [the reaction].”
There is a small sneak peek near the end of the interview if you wait around for it, and also Gillies discussing more how he is grateful now to be able to spend a little bit more time with his family. He has had an opportunity to play this character for many years in between this series and The Vampire Diaries — when you factor in there his role on Saving Hope, this guy really hasn’t had a chance to breathe all that much in many years. With this show now ending, he has a chance for a small break … though we imagine that there is going to be an opportunity to see him in something else in the near future.
Will Elijah die by the end of this? We certainly wouldn’t be shocked to see it, and to see if his story ends up with him eventually finding peace with Hayley similar to how Josh eventually found it with Aiden.
