For everyone wondering about whether or not Alpha would be a part of The Walking Dead season 9, it’s now official.
While at San Diego Comic-Con today, it was confirmed that Samantha Morton will be coming on board the AMC series in the major aforementioned role, the leader of a mysterious group called the Whisperers who have a rather distorted view of the world. They think that the zombie apocalypse is really a part of the natural order of things, and they are just doing their part in order to move forward society. Alpha is bald under the human skin that she wears to blend in with the walkers. She’s very formidable and incredibly ruthless, but isn’t anywhere near the same sort of villain that the series has in Negan.
We remember at one point that there were whispers that potentially Jadis could actually end up being Alpha in disguise, but we’re actually rather-glad the show went in a different direction here. This is a very different character and with that, something that is worth anticipating. It’s also a really-good casting, as Morton is a fantastic actress who has had a rather incredible career to date. There are some other Whisperers that will certainly need to either be cast or announced moving forward.
The Walking Dead will premiere on AMC come October, and it’s already been a rather-eventful day for the show. If you head over here, you can read some more news on the subject of what we’re talking about here — there is already a new trailer out for the upcoming season, in addition to Andrew Lincoln speaking out about his role and his eventual exit from the show. There is a lot of change coming up with the series, but in the case of adding Samantha Morton, this is the sort of change that almost everyone out there can certainly agree on.
