The Middle spin-off news; Iron Fist season 2 premiere date; Roseanne lashes out (Quick Hits)

In this morning’s edition of Quick Hits, we absolutely have a good bit to discuss in terms of news of the day — yet, let’s really get things going with The Middle spin-off news.

Speaking to TVLine while at San Diego Comic-Con, series star Eden Sher officially confirmed that there is a pilot being made that will feature her character of Sue Heck as a young adult. The show’s moving forward slightly in the timeline and giving Sue now a chance to be at the center of it. There’s no guarantee that this show ends up getting made, but the aforementioned publication smartly notes that this new iteration of The Middle could end up taking on the Tuesdays-at-8:00 timeslot after the Roseanne spin-off The Conners wraps its own ten-episode run. That show could premiere in the late fall, and if that is the case, we imagine that it will be done by around March or so.

Personally, we feel pretty confident that The Middle spin-off will happen, mostly because the first show was such an enormous hit and there’s very little reason to think that it wouldn’t come to pass.

As for some other news of the day…

Roseanne Barr lashes out – We debated even mentioning her new YouTube “talk show” concept that she is playing around with, largely because a lot of it just seems to be her shouting and name-calling based on what we see in the video. She discusses Valerie Jarrett and, frankly, it’s uncomfortable to watch. It is newsworthy since the cancellation of Roseanne was one of the most stunning events of the past year, but nothing good is going to come from a further conversation about it.

Iron Fist season 2 news – For those wondering about a premiere date for the Netflix – Marvel series, know that you’ll have a chance to see Danny Rand again come September 7. This follows the recent season 2 launches of both Jessica Jones and also Luke Cage — after building towards The Defenders, Netflix is starting to churn out these superhero shows a little bit faster.

Per a press release, here is what the streaming provider had to say about what’s next:

Iron Fist Season 2 features Danny Rand (Finn Jones) as he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Season 2 furthers the transformation of Danny, a character with a fish out of water coming of age story making his way in a harsh new world, battling to work out who he is. This season, Danny has promised that with Matt Murdock gone, he will step up and protect his city. But a sinister plot twist threatens his very identity and he must conquer his villains to protect the town and people he holds close to his heart.
