Hawaii Five-0 – Magnum PI crossovers on the way

It appears as though CBS is going to make the most of having Magnum PI and Hawaii Five-0 on the same network. The two series exist within the same universe, and there are many crossovers coming — including an eventual one in which Thomas Magnum and Steve McGarrett spend some time around each other. That makes sense, given that they both share a similar background as former Navy SEALs. The same actually goes for Junior Reigns on Hawaii Five-0, and we wonder if there is any relationship there based on the timing of Magnum making his way back home.

While at the official Magnum PI panel at San Diego Comic-Con this week, it was revealed that there are some crossovers coming between the two shows. For example, Kimee Balmilero is going to appear as Noelani in the very first episode of Magnum PI, and following that Taylor Wily is going to be bringing his own character of Kamekona to the series in episode 2. Given that these characters have a bit more of a flexible schedule on Hawaii Five-0, it’s probably easier to bring them around. More crossovers are coming down the road.

Obviously, to us the picture-perfect crossover is pairing up McGarrett and Magnum with Angus MacGyver and then having some sort of epic story for all three. They are all in the same universe, but we’re not sure that another MacGyver crossover is coming in the near future. Given that this show films all the way in Atlanta (that’s hardly close to what’s going on with either other show), it makes it rather hard to throw it together with the other shows. This did happen back in MacGyver season 1, but Mac never met McGarrett and production-wise, it may have been easier to pull off given that MacGyver season 1 had a shorter episode order.
