With Chicago Med season 4 filming getting underway, and the same for the One Chicago franchise in general, we’re at the time now where more news is going to come out. That includes finding out about some new or returning characters!
In this particular article, we’re talking about the return of Heather Headley as Gwen Garrett, who made her first appearance back during the season 3 finale. She is the new COO of the hospital, and with that of course comes a lot of responsibilities. With that being, we also feel like she’s going to have to deal with some very strong emotions via how some other doctors feel about her methods. She’s hired, after all, to try to make things a little more streamlined and a little less costly. It’s a guarantee that there is going to be tension with Sharon Goodwin, and there could be even more on the other side of that.
The news of Headley’s return was first confirmed by Deadline, and we know that Garrett is intelligent enough (she is a Harvard alum) that she’ll feel as though she can solve any challenge that is put before her at the hospital. As for whether or not that is actually the case, however, we’ll find out when the show premieres. This is not the first show that has given us a tremendous perspective on the business that comes with running a hospital, but they’ve always done a good job of it with Goodwin. Fingers crossed that the tradition continues here.
New episodes of Chicago Med kick off come Wednesday, September 26, where the NBC show is a part of a full-fledged One Chicago lineup that also includes both Chicago Fire as well as Chicago PD. This is a very-risky move for NBC to make, given that these three shows together could amount to One Chicago overkill for some. Still, we admire some of the hustle that is coming along with it and we’re really excited, in the end, to see precisely how the shows fare.
