Supergirl season 4 spoilers: Has Sam Witwer been cast?
Who is Sam? He’s someone who actually has a good bit of acting experience within the DC world already, having appeared as Davis Bloome in Smallville. We know that Supergirl does love to pay homage to Smallville, given that they have already brought on board such people as Laura Vandervoort and Erica Durance for multiple appearances this season already. Some of Witwer’s other TV credits include Being Human along with Once Upon a Time, where he appeared as Mr. Hyde for an arc. He’s got a good bit of experience within genre TV and because of that, he seems to be a very qualified addition to this world.
It’s possible that the actor’s casting will be confirmed later this year at San Diego Comic-Con. As for who he could be playing, right now Manchester Black is really one of the only characters who has been rumored. It’s possible that this is his role, but it’s really too early to speculate here one way or another. Filming only started, after all, last week! It’s also an interesting time in production given that star Melissa Benoist is not present and will not be present until August, as she finishes up her run on Broadway. The show was nice enough to let her continue to have her run in New York before coming back to play the Girl of Steel.
New episodes of Supergirl are going to premiere on The CW this October, where it will be a part of the network’s new Sunday night. That’s an ambitious move, but we’ve got a feeling that Supergirl will be more than fine.
