Is a Yellowstone season 2 renewal coming soon?
According to some new ratings information announced over at Deadline, the first three episodes of the Kevin Costner series has averaged 4.6 million viewers in live+same-day figures. What does this mean? Not only is this an incredible ratings total for the first three episodes, but it also means that this is the second-most-watched ad-supported cable series in these measures behind The Walking Dead.
Basically, all of this is incredible for a series that hasn’t necessarily gotten a ton of fanfare, and it does also show both the interest in seeing more of Costner’s work and also some of the appeal with this particular genre. We do think that a season 2 renewal is going to be coming up before too long, and it’s really just a question as to when the folks over at Paramount Network want to go ahead with it.
One of the biggest things to ultimately remember here while we await potential renewal news is the network that we’re looking at here. Paramount Network is an institution that is still very much new. They don’t have any big hits as of yet and with that in mind, they are going to be desperately seeking something. With this show, we think that they’re going to have an opportunity to launch something with staying power — and something that can support some other shows, as well. While renewals are complicated, we definitely feel confident that they are going to find a way in order to get something done here.
