Nashville season 6 episode 16 (series finale) title, meaning
Nashville season 6 episode 16 marks the series finale for the CMT drama, and we already have a little bit of insight about it now.
Let’s, of course, lead off by noting the title: “Beyond the Sunset.” This is a song that has deep religious roots, and when you think about it, there is a feeling of the show drifting off into its afterlife at the conclusion of the story. Of course, the “sunset” within this case is mostly for us as viewers, and not so much for anyone who lives and thrives within the fictional world. Their stories will go on after the events of the finale, but the writers need to figure out a way in which to cultivate some stories here in a way that makes some sense.
In the end, we want there to be a hope of happiness by the conclusion of these final episodes — we are very much cognizant of the fact that there is no guarantee of it, so with that in mind, we just want there to be an ending that leaves the door open. While many of the main characters on the series are flawed, most of them are good people. (We’re not counting Brad as a main character — he’s just a recurring stooge and a garbage human.) We don’t want to think about the idea that these people are suffering in perpetuity. Beyond the sunset, we’d like to see Maddie and Daphne have an opportunity for careers that are based on their own merit and are not controlled by others. Meanwhile, we’d like Deacon and Jessie to have happiness and see Juliette with control over her own life again.
Also, is it too much to ask than to have a stable plan for what Scarlett’s future is going to be at this point?
