The Last Ship season 5 cast is just as eager for a premiere date as you are
Everyone out there among the collective The Last Ship fandom is eager about one thing at the moment: Getting a season 5 return date for the series. What gives? It’s been a long time since season 5 wrapped up filming, and at the moment, we’re all at the mercy of TNT announcing the date.
For the cast, we imagine that this wait is even more frustrating. While they are all free to pursue other projects and many of them already have, at the same time they cannot answer the flurry of questions people constantly have for them about when the show is coming back. It’s also hard to promote something without knowing when fans are going to have an opportunity to see it. The reports are that TNT is waiting to announce a date when they are confident they won’t have to move it, but it’s hard to know why they think that their schedule is in so much of a constant state of flux.
Basically, though, the two tweets below are more evidence that the cast is just as eager to get more information on the future as you are — nobody is keeping any information from fans. Odds are, many actors will find out about the premiere date at around the same time viewers do. We do still want to believe that the premiere is coming later this summer, but if that happens, there’s not going to be much time to promote it. Granted, we do not think that TNT is going to invest a lot in promoting it no matter when they air the show — this is the final season, so from their vantage point they don’t have to worry about whether or not to order any more episodes.
Still, our message is rather simple: Do right by your fans. If you want to continue to have their support in the future, show that you want to give some of your programs, regardless of the ratings or the fact that they are ending, proper farewells.
