Supergirl season 4 premiere title carries with it Superman comic references
According to a new report coming in right now via SpoilerTV, the title for the very first episode of the CW series “The American Alien.” This is a reference to a Superman comic series entitled American Alien that really touches on Clark Kent in a way that few other stories have.
While we know that there is going to be a Red Son story that is coming in some ways due to the cliffhanger at the end of season 3, at the same time we do think that Supergirl would be right to explore more of Kara’s story in a way that the American Alien comic did Clark. One of the biggest critiques of the third season was that the show became too much about Supergirl and not anywhere near as much about Kara Danvers. We barely saw any of her as a reporter over the course of the second part of the season and we want to see things reach more an equilibrium there. It made sense in a way to shut off Kara, mostly because that is what Supergirl was trying to do for some of the season. It feels time to get back to that, to show Kara more of her career and the environment at CatCo, which became less and less of a tangible workplace during the third season. Early signs point towards season 4 changing things up.
Of course, we do know that there are many other mysteries on season 4, including precisely how the season is going to be filmed given that Melissa Benoist is currently on Broadway. Our feeling is that things are going to be filmed out of order and scaled out in a way that she can pick up much of the work once she comes back.
