Outlander notes: More from Caitriona Balfe, others in Las Vegas

Outlander season 4

Today marks the final day of the Outlander convention in Las Vegas, and with that we’ve got a few more updates via some of the proceedings.

Yesterday, for example, there was a panel featuring Caitriona Balfe and Lotte Verbeek. The two touched on a number of different subjects, from the story on the show to the process of playing Claire Fraser and Geillis Duncan. In the video at the bottom of this article (via Angus’ Angels), you can see the two performers tlaking about the joys of playing characters on a TV series, and also the value of this particular medium. It gives you a chance to be a familiar presence in your viewers’ lives, and that’s not necessarily something that you get with every other series out there.

One of the funniest parts of this whole panel, though, was the presence of a fake Sam Heughan sitting on stage. Sam had to cancel his appearance due to press commitments for The Spy Who Dumped Me, but the folks at the convention managed to find a way to have a little bit of fun with this.

As of this writing, there is another panel happening with Balfe, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin. That’s a chance for some other fun proceedings and discussions. These three are all prominent characters in Outlander season 4, which is of course premiering on Starz this November. The smiles on their faces all indicate that they are having a good time.

For those of who who were unable to make it out to Vegas, we wrote yesterday about the next Outlander convention that is happening in New Jersey. While not every cast member will be out there, that is another chance to have some fun. Beyond that, this may serve as a suitable way to compensate for the fact that there is not going to be all that much of a presence for the show at San Diego Comic-Con. There will be a panel over at New York Comic-Con, but that’s not going to happen until October.
