The Walking Dead season 9 will have plenty of Norman Reedus

Walking Dead

For those out there who love Norman Reedus, rest assured of this: You’ll be getting a lot of him moving into The Walking Dead season 9. The Daryl Dixon character is beloved, but one of the challenges with him and many other characters is rather simple — because this is a show with an enormous cast, there is really only so much you can see of any particular character.

Yet, with the impending exits of Andrew Lincoln and (presumably) Lauren Cohan), some of that can change and Reedus could be relied upon more so than ever.

Speaking to TVLine, new showrunner Angela Kang made it clear that there is something big for the Daryl character coming up … but she wasn’t altogether interested in saying more than that:

“What I will say is that we will be telling a great story with Daryl this season. He has some really meaty material coming up, so Daryl fans will get their fill.”

In other words, if you love Daryl, how can you not love this season? We do wonder just what’s coming up and, of course, there is a part of us that wants him to have a love interest; yet, it also feels like one of those occasions in which the grass may be greener on the other side of the fence. One of the biggest reasons why there may be such a clamoring for a Daryl love interest is simply because we haven’t had a Daryl love interest so far. If we had it, would everyone feel the same way? That aside, we do feel like one of the most important things moving forward is going to be getting a chance to see some sort of further leadership role for him. He may be somewhat of a lone wolf — at least in comparison to some of the other people on the show — but with Rick leaving the need for someone new in charge is going to be clear.
