Emmys 2018 happy surprises: Kenan Thompson, Yvonne Strahovksi, Cameron Britton
Remember that in addition to these surprises (which you can read about below), you can head over here to read our pieces all about snubs, as well as some of the nominations as a whole.
Betty Gilpin – While Alison Brie was unfortunately snubbed, this is one that made us very much thrilled given that GLOW definitely earned all the love it got.
Kenan Thompson – The longest-tenured cast member in Saturday Night Live history finally gets the Emmy nod he deserves for being a performer on the show all this time. Beyond that, we really do think that it’s his time to also win it.
Yvonne Strahovski – While we know her nomination for The Handmaid’s Tale was expected by many, we’re just thrilled as a long-time Chuck fan.
Cameron Britton – The man behind Ed Kemper was arguably the best part of Netflix’s Mindhunter.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah – Hopefully, this leads to Noah getting some more love since he’s often been the forgotten man of late-night as of late.
Lin-Manuel Miranda – While his appearance on Curb Your Enthusiasm was brief, it was absolutely one of the funniest parts of the entire season. (In general, we didn’t love Curb this year as much as the Emmys, but the finale was really good.)
Laurie Metcalf – It’s nice to see that the Emmy voters didn’t hold Roseanne Barr’s comments against Metcalf and still chose to recognize her for her work on Roseanne.
