The Sinner season 2 trailer: Ambrose interviews the suspect

The sinner season 2

USA has unveiled a new The Sinner season 2 trailer leading up to the show’s return in August, and this one sends a chill down your spine. It’s another reminder of the dark, intense storytelling that the series does so well, but also the new flavor that this season is going to bring. There are many different reasons why it’s being considered one of the most intense we’ve seen so far, but much of it starts with the suspect.

In this case, the suspect is a young boy, and he is not denying what he did. It appears as though he went and collected a poisonous leaf and then intentionally brought about the death of his parents with it. That is absolutely a terrifying thought, but it does seem to be the case unless this kid is really covering up for someone else — which we’re not entirely sure is the case, mostly because that is not how The Sinner often functions as a series. This is not so much a story about the who as it is the why. Why did this kid do this? There are almost surely some dark secrets at the heart of this season and we’re very much intrigued to see how the USA series ends up unraveling those. It’s going to be in some ways essential to determining what the entirety of this season is going to look like.

Beyond just Bill Pullman, this new season also gives you a good sense of Carrie Coon’s presence in the season. While there is not too much dished on her role here, she is coming on board after arcs on both The Leftovers as well as Fargo. You have to imagine that she wouldn’t really be doing this if the material was not up to snuff.
