It goes without saying, but gun rights, ownership, and everything associated with them has been at the center of headlines for a good little while now, and we really don’t think that this is going to change anytime soon. This is just a part of our climate now.

When Jane discovers that Sutton has been hiding a gun in the apartment, the girls realize they have polar opposite views on the subject. Meanwhile, Adena shocks Kat with her latest suggestion.
One of the biggest things that we are anticipating with this story is that there will be some disagreement, but that a compromise could be resolved by the time we get around to the end of it. The biggest challenge we imagine the series having with this sort of story is a creative one — you want to present all points of view in a way that are realistic, and find a solution that is progressive but also not preachy. This should be a show that can speak to and illuminate everyone out there and they’ve done a good job with this sort of thing in the past.
We do think that touching on some of these issues has helped to bring more attention to the series. In terms of average total viewers a week, the show is just about even with its season 1 averages (at least when it comes to live viewing). Meanwhile, in the 18-49 demographic it is down less than 10% year to year. Given how often new shows completely fall apart in the ratings these days, this is a pretty solid return to have this sort of stable performance.
