Chicago Fire season 7: Will Renee kiss impact Stella – Severide relationship?
Despite what your preconceived fears may be, it’s actually not set to play that big of a role — at least on paper. In a new post on Twitter, show executive producer Derek Haas noted that the objective with Renee kissing Kelly at the end of season 6 isn’t for this to be some sort of illicit secret that haunts Severide for some time. Instead, Haas says that Kelly “only has eyes for Kidd,” which should bring a little bit of solace to some of the people out there who were super-concerned about the future of the two characters. For the time being, it does appear as though they are going to be okay and will be able to move forward into a reasonably sustainable future with each other.
At this point in the show, I know I’m rooting for these two to figure it out just because the timing feels right. We’ve seen Severide make a number of mistakes but Stella’s also someone who understands him. Even though he’s not always the most forthcoming person when it comes to his past, she knows and understands him in the present … though I still think he could’ve been a little bit more reassuring with Stella when Renee first came back into town. Beyond that, shouldn’t there still be a conversation about the kiss? Maybe it happens off-camera, but even if it’s not a threat to the relationship it does feel like something that would be addressed.
No matter what happens with Kelly and Stella moving forward on Chicago Fire, expect them both back around when new episodes premiere this fall. With filming starting soon, there should be a whole lot more news on the horizon.
