When should a major Grey’s Anatomy – Station 19 crossover happen?
We do think that there is a reason to fight for it happening during the premiere in November, mostly because that is a chance for both shows to start big and use Grey’s Anatomy to boost the ratings more for the spin-off series. However, there is also a pretty clear reason for the series to wait for a little while. Both Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 each had their own specific cliffhangers, and it does make a certain degree of sense to wait so that these shows can resolve some of their own endings before you allow them to come together in a way that hasn’t been done just yet. You don’t want to rush a crossover just for the sake of having one.
It’s with that in mind that you could opt to do a major crossover at some point in late October or during the November sweeps. We know that the latter time is a little bit cliché insofar as it’s the same time in which many shows out there choose to do some of their own crossover events, but that is simply a time that makes a whole lot of sense solely because of it being a time you really want to promote your shows a little bit more. Why not want to do something like this around then? It gives you a while to lead up to a big, two-part event, and then time on the other side so that it doesn’t serve as the winter finale for either show.
If you do choose to not do it then, the other guess we have is that the crossover could come instead in February during the sweeps period then. We know that there is some sort of crossover content planned for the coming year and we are very much curious to see what it looks like.
