12 Monkeys season 5: Could it ever happen on Syfy?
However, we don’t entirely think that there is going to be an answer that everyone will be happy with. Tonight episode is designated as a series finale, and with that there are no plans to revisit the series in the near future. There really is not any reason to, given that most speculation out there suggest that this episode is going to tie together most loose ends.
Obviously, there is a part of all of us at television viewers that wants to make sure that some of our favorite shows go on forever. That is probably especially the case with us show like 12 Monkeys, which combined action, time travel, and mystery in a way that very few other shows do. Yet, we do also have to realize that going on for four seasons is a pretty rare achievement for a show on Syfy these days. This is not a network with a tendency to keep many of their shows around a long time. Four seasons is better than many others that we have seen over the years, and while we are not entirely in love with the way in which the network is airing these final episodes, we also recognize that it could be so much worse.
Even though at the moment this is slated to be the end, we have always come to accept a never-say-never sort of philosophy when it comes to shows that are saying farewell. You never know what is going to happen a few years from now, but it does feel like everyone in this case is moving forward rather than standing still. Take, for example, Amanda Schull becoming a series regular over on Suits for its upcoming eighth season. One of the great things about that is that you were not going to have to wait all that long in order to see her on TV again. That season is going to premiere on July 18th, less than two weeks away from where we are right now.
Ultimately, if you are watching the finale tonight, just enjoy it for what it is. Admittedly, we have all gotten rather greedy in this current day culture of wanting revivals every second of the day. It is always going to be nice in the context of our favorite shows, but we have to also recognize that many of these revivals are rare and we get fooled into thinking otherwise when some of our favorites get saved.
