The Walking Dead season 9 poster brings Andrew Lincoln, cast to Washington
The poster basically shows Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in front of a decaying Capitol Building alongside a few other notable characters: Carol (Melissa McBride), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), and Daryl (Norman Reedus). Typically, AMC likes to highlight more characters on their poster, and this one is rather interesting when you consider the fact that both Lincoln and Cohan are leaving at some point during the season. With that, McBride, Reedus, and Gurira are going to be counted on in order to promote the show and be the leaders both on-screen and behind the scenes.
AMC chose to release this poster in honor of San Diego Comic-Con a little bit later this month, and this is going to be one of the more eventful panels that we’ve seen from the vantage point of news. We’re sure that Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan’s exits from the series are going to be at the center of the discussion, as will probably be trying to dance around how Rick and Maggie are written out of the season. Yvette Nicole Brown is set to serve as the moderator for the panel; she recently issued a statement on Twitter both about that and her vantage point on the gig after Chris Hardwick and AMC decided that he should not be the face of SDCC after sexual assault allegations.
The Walking Dead season 9 still does not have a formal premiere date, but our feeling is that there will be some more news on the subject come either later this month or in August. Mid-to-late October seems to be when AMC really likes to get things rolling in terms of new episodes.
