The Good Fight season 1 could have had Julianna Margulies cameo
The Good Fight season 3 is set to premiere on CBS All Access next year, and while we’ve had a chance to see many characters from the original series The Good Wife stop by, Alicia was not one of them. As it turns out, there is a pretty clear reason for that.
Speaking via TVLine, series star Julianna Margulies confirms that there was a time in which she was asked to be a part of The Good Fight during the first season; yet, she declined the offer out of fear that it would take away from everything else that the show was doing:
“I really didn’t want to do it when they asked me in the first season, because I didn’t think that was fair [to the series or its cast, led by Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo and Rose Leslie]. I felt like, ‘Get on your own two feet. Do your thing.’ Because if Alicia had come in, in the first season, it would have been [all] about Alicia and The Good Wife. And now it’s their show.”
Could The Good Fight bring Alicia on board before the end of the series? Sure, but we really don’t understand what the precise point of that would even be given that, at this point, there’s no clear evidence that the spin-off really even needs her. Beyond just that, the final scene for Alicia on The Good Wife was about as perfect an end to that character as we’re going to find. She became the subject of the slap and with that, there was a full-circle nature to the story that was told. We’re not sure that we really see value in extending Alicia’s presence in this world beyond that moment. As good of an actor as Margulies is (you do have a chance to now see her over on Dietland), we’re not entirely sure that it is worth it.
