The Originals season 5: Should Klaus survive through the end?

Is it possible that we’re going to see Klaus survive to the end of The Originals as a series … or even beyond? Based on where we are in the show right now, it definitely feels as though it is a worthy subject for debate.

As of right now, there is a definite case to be made for Klaus surviving, mostly because there is that spin-off show coming entitled Legacies and just on the basis of that alone, don’t you want this character to potentially appear over there? Klaus and Hope clearly have been through a lot together since he first came back into her life, but he is still her father, for starters, and he can navigate her through the supernatural world better than most. Plus, the potential for some Joseph Morgan cameos on this new version of the franchise is a tantalizing thought and hard idea to pass up on.

Unfortunately, though, if there is one thing holding this idea potentially back, it is simply this: The thought that Morgan is not a cast member on this show, and if pilot season had gone the way in which he had hoped, he would have been starring in a Fox adaptation of Gone Baby Gone. That doesn’t suggest that there was a plan to include a whole lot of Klaus on Legacies, and there is absolutely an argument that could be made for Klaus dying on this show. For starters, this is an immortal guy who has experienced more evil than almost anyone can imagine, and in that way there could be a certain release from the pain that goes along with death. We can also envision him sacrificing himself for the sake of Hope. Another idea is that he may run off to start a new life somewhere else, somewhere far enough where Hope can develop her own sense of self and inner peace.

While we can understand wanting to kill off Klaus at the end of this series, given that eventually, Damon and others eventually also died on The Vampire Diaries, we just hope that it is worthwhile. We don’t want Klaus to go for the sake of him doing. We’re really hoping that it will matter.
