Cable Ratings: Nashville season 6, Queen of the South season 3, and Shooter

Nashville season 6 midseason finale

Welcome to another edition of Cable Ratings! In this particular edition we’re looking at a number of different cable series that aired new episodes on Thursday night.

Nashville season 6 – We haven’t been as invested in covering the show’s numbers every week, largely because of the fact that there’s been very little reason to do so. This is, after all, the final season … but we do want to see the series go out with as big of a bang as possible.

Well, the bad news is that the series drew 666,000 total viewers for this past episode, which is the second-lowest total we’ve seen all season long. The trajectory of this series has certainly been interesting, mostly in that it was at one point getting millions of people over on ABC before getting canceled there and moving over to CMT down the road.

Queen of the South season 3 – Meanwhile, the USA drama (which is still in contention for another season) slipped a considerable amount in its second episode of the season. This week, the show managed to pull a 0.3 rating in the demo alongside 1.02 million viewers — both drops of over 15% from the premiere week. This means that now, season 3 is down slightly versus season 2, but hopefully that’s not a trend that is going to last. Even if it does, though, a small decrease from one season to the next shouldn’t hurt its renewal odds all that much.

Shooter season 3 – Meanwhile, The second episode of this season also dropped considerably down to a 0.2 rating in the demo and around 720,000 total viewers. These were both drops of more than 20% from the premiere, and in total season 3 is now down more than 30% in both measurements from season 2. The concern that we’ve got here immediately is that these numbers spell out not-so-great things for the future, but it’s still early in the season. There’s no cause to freak out just yet, but that could change in the future.
