NCIS video: Wilmer Valderrama talks doing his own stunts, more

Wilmer Valderrama

Wilmer Valderrama has been spending the better part of this past week in Australia, and while there the NCIS star has done a number of different interviews. Earlier this week, we shared one interesting interview. This time around, we’ve got another via talk series Studio 10.

In the video below, you can see Wilmer touch on a wide array of different discussion points within this interview, whether it be his history on That 70’s Show, working on NCIS, and in particular a time when his decision to do many of his own stunts led to him being in a little bit of hot water. Let’s just say that sometimes, dangerous-looking situations on TV really are dangerous in real life, as well.

Also in this video, Wilmer talks about his new deal with CBS TV Studios to produce some new content for them, in particular with an emphasis on diversity. It’s something that matters a lot to him, especially since it could offer inspiration for many viewers not used to seeing themselves on TV:

“With this deal, diversity is something that is very urgent in America. We need to normalize a lot of our minorities, especially within our national conversation … It is important that young people see themselves [on] television.”

Ultimately, Wilmer’s deal is to create great content that viewers from all backgrounds can discover and enjoy, and beyond just that bring great diverse talent to the forefront whether they are in front or behind of the camera.

One part of this interview we find especially interesting is Valderrama talking about one part of himself that is very important to his identity: His own name, and how he didn’t want to change it despite some suggestions that he go with a name more overtly Latino after he first arrived in America. Wilmer Valderrama is his real name, and he’s glad to have it and work with it since it honors his family in a way that another name would not.

Catch Wilmer and the rest of the cast on NCIS season 16, premiering on CBS this fall.
