Jessica Jones season 3: Krysten Ritter to make directorial debut

Jessica Jones season 2

Krysten Ritter is poised to do more than just act on Jessica Jones season 3 — she’s also going to be diving into directing for the first time.

According to Deadline, Ritter had the following to say about the opportunity to get behind the camera for the first time, and also her gratitude towards the crew behind the scenes in order to take part in it:

“I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel’s Jessica Jones … The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins.”

Jessica Jones season 3 recently started filming, and the good news for many fans out there when it comes to that is simply that Netflix isn’t going to make you wait anywhere near as long between seasons in order to see her back in action. Now that The Defenders seems to be over and done with (and there aren’t any plans to revisit it in the near future), we could presumably see some of these other superhero series a little more often. For fans of Jessica Jones, this is a total win given that this show is considered to be one of the best that the streaming provider has to offer. It’s action-packed and funny at times, but also personal and devastating at others.

Who knows? If Ritter ends up enjoying her time behind the camera, it is certainly conceivable that this is a job that she ends up doing again down the line. We are curious to see how this goes for her since we know how hard it is for actors to direct themselves. It’s not something that many people can do well, but we think that Ritter is more than capable of making this work.
