Famous in Love season 3: Show creator still fighting; denies feud with Bella Thorne

Famous in Love season 2

Mere hours after the news of the Famous in Love cancellation was first announced, the show’s creator in Marlene King took to social media to deny some parts of the story.

In a new series of posts on Twitter, King denied that she and Bella Thorne have had a contentious relationship behind the scenes — or that Thorne was intent on leaving the show even before its cancellation was first announced:

Despite what may be out there I am not in a feud w @bellathorne.  We have,  and have always had,  a friendly and professional relationship. FACT: The ENTIRE @FamousInLoveTV cast and crew are crossing our fingers and toes as we light candles for a S3 pickup. #Raige On!

Do we think that there is a good chance for there to be a Famous in Love season 3 down the road, even at Freeform? For the time being, we’re leaning towards a pickup as unlikely, if for no other reason than that the ratings for the series were on the lower end of some of Freeform’s shows and it doesn’t have the international following of some of the other series. Yet, you never want to say never with such things since you don’t quite know who is going to be out there and interested in your show. There are some sources saying that a season 3 at Freeform may still happen, but obviously the original reports today also came out for a reason.

Even if this is the end of the road for Famous in Love, we don’t think that the producers want to leave fans thinking that there was a hostile environment behind the scenes or that Thorne was difficult as a star. More than anything, we just feel for the fans in this sort of situation since all they want is some sort of closure — we wish that Famous in Love would at least have an opportunity to do that in the form of some sort of movie, given that networks are starting to be more accommodating in that sense. (Let’s still be clear, though, that a movie is no substitute for a full season and that’s what we are hoping to have with Shadowhunters.)
