Outlander season 4 filming timeline, final days revealed

Outlander season 4

Even though Outlander season 4 may only be filming at one of their current locations until late June, production itself will be going on a little bit beyond that.

As confirmed in a new post on Twitter via series star Sam Heughan (which CarterMatt has for you below), production on this season is going to keep going for another ten days, which basically means that it will wrap up in Scotland around the time of the Fourth of July here in America. That means season 4 filming will be going on longer in the summer than season 3 did — it also means that some of the cast is going to have to travel back to set after the upcoming convention this weekend.

We know that some actors, like Cesar Domboy, are already done with work on the season — actors often do all wrap at a different time given that there are only so many performers who are needed for specific scenes. Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are of course going to be two of the last people to wrap up work on the show, as they are the two leads and dominate in terms of screen time. They will potentially have a few more breaks this season than in the past, though, seemingly due to the rise of Brianna and Roger as important characters this season.

On the other side of filming wrapping up, Heughan and Balfe can navigate over to their movie roles and won’t be counted on for too much more Outlander-related work, (save for possible things that need to be done in post-production) until New York Comic-Con this fall. Season 4 does not premiere until November and at some point closer to that time, we’ll probably see more in terms of a traditional promotional tour for the season kick off.

If you missed it, yesterday we reported that season 5 filming is going to begin in February, which means that production for that season will probably take place through much of the year — the good news is that the show can take advantage of the beautiful Scottish summers and avoid some of the winter. The bad news? More midges, who have already been quite a pest for the cast the past few weeks.
