It’s not often that we have Doctor Who season 11 news that is downright adorable, but here it is.
In honor of both a new block of episodes being filmed and also Jodie Whittaker’s birthday, much of the cast and crew at the BBC series opted to dress up in modified forms of the Thirteenth Doctor. You can see the photo below and it’s absolutely fantastic. It also feels like a game of where’s Waldo trying to find some of the familiar faces amidst many of the wigs and suspenders. It’s a nice little show of unity, but it also goes deeper than that.
To be specific, what we take away from this photo more so than anything else is that there is a tremendous sense of love that this cast and crew has for Whittaker behind the scenes. You don’t do something like this unless you absolutely love working with the person your are doing it for. It shows that there’s a ton of respect there, and that working on Doctor Who this season is probably a hoot — even if it is fairly high-stress since you’re dealing with one of the most valuable properties out there. Expectations are so through the roof time and time again with this show that we imagine it could be rather overwhelming to tackle them.
Ultimately, we are rather interested to see precisely how Doctor Who handles some of these expectations, but we are going to be waiting for a good while still in order to find out. After all, the show is not slated to premiere on BBC One and BBC America until later this year, but hopefully we’re getting closer to the point now where some more news can be handed down on the subject.
