Now that we know that a Lucifer season 4 is officially coming to Netflix, we’re moving on to discuss some other fun topics — including, of course, when you could actually see a trailer.
Are we getting a little bit ahead of ourselves here? Absolutely. We’re well aware of the fact that there are still many scripts to be written before we even get to the point that season 4 starts filming. Yet, we know that there’s going to be some enthusiasm here when it comes to this show over the summer. CarterMatt has said this before, but our feeling here is that there isn’t going to be a new season until early next year. With that, we don’t anticipate there being a trailer until a little bit later this fall.
With all of this in mind, let’s go ahead and give you when we think would be the ideal time to launch a Lucifer season 4 trailer: October 31. Halloween. Think about it. What better time to celebrate a show about the devil than a night where a lot of people where some wickedly creative costumes? It also seems like a great way in which Netflix could build up the launch of the trailer, especially via social media since they’ve got such a viral audience at the ready to retweet the heck out of any trailer that launches.
If we were Netflix, our promotional strategy would be simple: Release some behind-the-scenes videos starting with the start of filming and every few weeks. From there, give a full trailer come Halloween and then something more when we get closer to December / January, depending on when the show premieres.
Obviously, we’d love to have more Lucifer to watch sooner rather than later, but let’s remember — greatness takes time! If Netflix opts to release the entire season at once, it’s a little different than Fox being able to scale some of those episodes out.
